Cascade of Empowerment is a Non-Profit 501-c3 founded in October 2019 and incorporated in February 2020. The organization is a non-denominational support organization primarily for widows but will include divorced women and single parents without a spouse. Although we are not a religious organization, we do endorse scripture to ultimately define widowhood, our purpose, and mission during this stage of our lives. We assist women during the most significant transition in their lives.
According to a recent US census, there are four times as many widows as widowers. Between women and men, women tend to seek help more than men after a spouse's death. Surprisingly, many support groups are comprised of women under fifty years of age with children still at home.
Cascade of Empowerment will provide resources to widows as they adjust to their new normal and journey through widowhood. Grief support groups will provide a safe haven for women to share with other widows. Our vision is to provide a strong network of widows and seek to empower this group through shared experiences and build lasting connections.
Many widows do not inherit a spousal insurance policy, pension, 401k, savings plan, or other retirement funds. Financial classes are offered to widows to avoid financial pitfalls. Some women inherit funds and have no clue as to how to manage them. For many others, the need for assistance with mortgage, rent, food, utilities, career change and transportation are real and Cascade of Empowerment will assist.
Children often need counseling and will continue to have the basic need for food, clothing, school supplies and opportunities for meaningful activities. Cascade of Empowerment will assist and collaborate with other non-profit groups that can aid with the needs and grief that children experience.
Workshops covering many relevant topics, birthday and holiday celebrations, and opportunities to volunteer are just some of the things Cascade of Empowerment will provide.
